McFadden Associates Blacklist

What this DNSbl says about itself

McFadden Associates runs this DNSBL as a public service, which means that is free for any server that accepts to a short, simple user policy that says there is no warranty for the service. The DNSBL itself uses MailScanner and SpamAssassin to scan all mail passing through the major email servers it runs, which means all sites are published to the list is done so automatically based on those two programs’ criteria, and does so aggressively. Removal from the list is also automatic and is granted to any blacklisted site administrator who visits the DNSBL’s website if they were listed by mistake or after a 45 day period for true spammers. The site actually contains two databases, one called bl.csma.biz that is used for aggressive sites that have spammed repeatedly over a short amount of time, and another one called sbl.csma.biz that is much more strict and not recommended for real-time refusals, as the chances it will block legitimate messages from non-spam sites is somewhat high.

Mail server administrators should never implement blacklists unless they are 100% sure of what they are doing. Misconfiguration can result in all incoming mail being blocked.
